Extracting Data from Corrupted and Failing Drives

In the Texas Hill Country, sudden power surges and environmental hardware degradation frequently cause catastrophic drive failures. When a hard drive begins making clicking noises, or an SSD becomes unrecognized by Windows, attempting to run standard consumer recovery software often pushes the failing hardware to the point of permanent destruction.

At HC Computer Security Services, our objective is purely data recovery. We do not fix, repair, or refurbish hard drives for future use. We provide Helotes businesses and residents with a forensic methodology to extract your critical documents, family archives, and financial records, transferring them to safe, new media.

Our Forensic Extraction Process

Because failing drives are highly unstable, we use specialized write-blocking hardware to ensure the drive's contents cannot be altered. We interact with the dying disk exactly once to create a secure, sector-by-sector digital clone.

Raw Image Processing (DD/E01)

By creating a raw binary image of your storage media, we copy the surviving data bits into a stable lab environment. We then perform all file carving and extraction strictly on this digital image, completely removing your fragile hardware from the stress of the recovery process.

Virtual File System Reconstruction

If a power outage corrupted your Master File Table (MFT) or partition map, we do not attempt to rewrite or fix these structures on your drive. Instead, we virtually rebuild the map within our forensic software to locate and extract your intact folders and files safely.

Critical Triage Instruction

If you suspect physical hardware failure, turn off the computer immediately. Do not put the drive in the freezer or tap it. Contact our lab serving the Helotes area for proper drop-off instructions so we can secure your data.
